Deadly Russian Strikes Hit Ukrainian Cities Ahead of Announced Ceasefire

On May 6, 2026, Ukrainian officials reported that overnight Russian drone and missile attacks killed at least 22 people and injured more than 80 across several regions, just hours before Kyiv was due to implement a unilateral ceasefire and days before Moscow’s own announced pause in hostilities. In the afternoon, powerful glide bombs and Shahed‑type drones struck the eastern city of Kramk, the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, and the northern city of Chernihiv, killing at least 17 civilians and wounding 45 more, after earlier night‑time strikes had already left five dead and 39 injured. Ukrainian authorities accused Russia of deliberately targeting residential areas and “cynically” attacking the same locations twice to hit rescuers and civilians who had rushed to help after the first explosions.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift before You the people of Ukraine who are once again mourning their loved ones after these deadly strikes on Kramk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and other cities. You see every family searching for relatives in the rubble, every child trembling in basements, every rescuer risking their life to pull survivors from shattered buildings—have mercy on them, O God. Stretch out Your hand to protect civilians from further attacks; shield apartment blocks, hospitals, power stations, and shelters, and frustrate the plans of those who choose terror and destruction. Strengthen local authorities, medical staff, emergency responders, and church communities as they rescue the trapped, treat the wounded, and comfort the grieving—give them courage, wisdom, and supernatural endurance. We ask that You move the hearts of leaders in Russia, Ukraine, and the nations to turn from escalation and to seek a just peace that protects the vulnerable and honors human dignity; let truth, not propaganda, shape consciences and decisions. In the midst of fear and fatigue, reveal Yourself to many Ukrainians and Russians as the Prince of Peace, the righteous Judge, and the One who is close to the brokenhearted and mighty to save. In Your mighty name, Jesus, Amen.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3 NKJV
